An article in the Telegraph today talks about outcomes of various studies into the effects of meditation on our health.
"[A] study found that meditation decreases the levels of the stress-causing hormone, cortisol. Study subjects who were taught to meditate for 20 minutes a day for five days had measurably less anxiety and lower levels of the hormone than a group who were taught other relaxation techniques. Those who meditated also had lower levels of anger and fatigue."

Life in a big city like London has become all about efficiency, speed and results. Multi-tasking is an essential skill nowadays. There doesn’t seem to be any time left for stillness or simple moments of calm, which can very often lead to stress, fatigue and lack of energy. We have all been there at some point. If we are lucky, we are able to somehow keep a balance and regulate stress levels, but usually, things have to get really bad before we realise that we need to make some changes in our lives.

For some people the change of seasons doesn’t do anything at all, and for others it means a complete change of mood, new types of activities, a different choice of produce, and a speeding up or slowing down of the pace of life.
As part of a new de-stress programme, which will use different yoga and relaxation techniques to help us manage typical stress symptoms more effectively, I will be starting up TWO new weekly half-hour "breathe & de-stress" classes - details to announced very soon! Summer has arrived! The time of sweet and light filled days, the time we have fun and feel free. It’s when our energy levels are at their highest. We spend every spare minute outdoors topping up on Vitamin D. We are a lot more outgoing and spend our time socialising with family and friends.
What a perfect time for consciously bringing out our playful side and really enjoying the moment. However, with our busy schedule of having fun, we don’t want to stop feeling connected. Summer provides us with so much natural energy, but we run the risk of missing out on its simple beauty, that’s why we all should take some time out to connect with our peaceful power inside.
So sometimes, when I'm not on the yoga mat, I find a little time to ponder over all things yoga, and every so often it so happens that I also write down my ponderings...
